When 1109 originally released there was no option of a DX version.  When rereleased a DX version was available that had additional accessories.  These additional accessories could be purchased apart from the Nendoroid so that those who bought the original release could obtain these additional parts without having to buy the DX Nendoroid.  This was termed an "extension set."
